The commercial UAS industry has matured in ways that not many predicted. While all industries evolve over time, I’m not sure anyone thought the industry was going to shake out the way it has over the past 10 years. Furthermore, I’m almost positive no one will be able to predict the actual future of the industry 10 years from now…. except that it will exist.
Rapid technological advancements, shifting market dynamics, ever-changing unrealistic consumer preferences (largely due to vendor misrepresentations), massive consolidations/exits, and a regulatory roadmap goal post that moves every time you blink your eyes, have left everyone in the industry in a state of confusion. So now what?
What if there was an organization out there that supported the end-user? An organization that was not pressured by aircraft/software/service sales but by the success of the end-user. It would need to be a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who have uniquely (1) lived through the good/bad/ugly of this industry, (2) worked directly with the technology, and (3) have sat in the board rooms with these end-users to plead the business case.
